Mastering Visual Basic 6 by Evangelos Petroutsos is considered the best book on Visual Basic for beginner developers to advanced professionals. Visual Basic 6 : The Complete Reference and the Bible series are also good, but I won't suggest the books for beginners. You may study the book - Programming in Visual Basic 6 by Ivan Bayross from BPB publication. There are a lot many eBooks on the web, you may download and study from them which may be sufficient for the syllabus.
