In 3NF --> a relation schema R is said to be in 3nf if the nontrivial dependancy X->A holds such that either X is a super key of R or A is a prime attribute of R. In BCNF -->a relation schema R is said to be in BCNF if the nontrivial dependancy X->A holds such that X must be a super key of R.
